Fillmore Jazz Festival

The Fillmore Jazz Festival was this weekend. I passed through it to get to my mid-morning yoga class in the neighborhood.

It seems to be as much about eating, drinking & shopping as listening to music.

People patiently waited in a long line for free samples of ice cream.

I approve of dancing in the streets, though.

Although I vowed not to buy any overpriced street food, I succumbed to a pork slider at Yoshi's.

The fair extends from Jackson Street, across Geary, to Eddy, so it temporarily joins 2 very different neighborhoods.

Colorful life-size sculptures by J. Seward Johnson have recently appeared in the plaza next to the Safeway.

They look particularly creepy in this setting.

Well, that's what you get for taking yoga classes. And I hope those Seward Johnson atrocities are "temporary" art. Otherwise, serious vandalism seems to be in order.

I hope these statues are temporary, though it is probably only a matter of time... Believe it or not, I did not include the most heinous examples on display.

Apparently they will be up for 6 months:
