World Origami Days

According to the OrigamiUSA website, we're in the midst of World Origami Days. I can't find any events to go to for this, so here's an origami howling coyote, designed by John Montroll & folded by me.

That is elegant & impressive. My few attempts at origami have always ended in bitter tears & endless regrets.

Gosh, it's not as hard as that! I'm sure I can teach you something that won't make you cry. When models don't work for me, I always blame it on the paper: too thick, too think, not big enough, not a square enough...

Perhaps it was not an age-appropriate activity for me when I tried it. Blaming the paper is a useful strategy that I think I will apply to life outside of origami as well.

How could an activity traditionally taught to little children in Japan not be age-appropriate? At any rate, blaming something/someone else is an excellent & approved strategy for happiness.

Possibly some of us were slower at developing optimum hand/eye coordination. Back in the day we did not have the benefits of video games to help us hone these skills!
