Benjamin Kreith present their "
Garret" show in a performance space at
Duende restaurant in Oakland. Their program looks to be a piquant mix, including Futurist sound poetry, improvisations, Satie, Schumann, & Mr. Chessa's own music. 6 singers, possibly outrageously styled, are on the bill for a recital celebrating
French opera heroines, in the intimate gallery & salon space of
Salle Pianos.
Seventh Avenue Performances presents lutenist
Adam Cockerham, violinist
Noah Strick, and cellist
Adaiha Macadam-Somer in a free concert featuring lesser-known Italian composers of the early Baroque.
CAAMFest (formerly SF International Asian American Film Festival) is showing
Seeking Asian Female, local filmmaker
Debbie Lum's documentary about a Caucasian, 60-year-old parking lot attendant & his young mail-order bride from China. The
panel discussion following is sure to be provocative.

Well, you do have a point, and it's nice to be reminded that you are simply a conduit of cultural information from the ether.
The question really related to which of these possibilities did I want to go to, and if you were interested in any one of them personally, there would be some serious weight.
But if you refuse to have a preference, let me state mine. The Luciano Chessa thingie in Oakland is probably going to be the most interesting, and it's at a civilized hour next to a BART station, plus you can drink good beer. I have spoken.

I plan to attend Lucanio & Ben's Garret show. CAAM added an extra screening of Seeking Asian Female, so I luckily got to see it last night. Like many seemingly mismatched couples, it goes from creepy to romantic & is compulsive viewing.
