How to catch a Muni bus

I was riding the 22 Fillmore this afternoon, & at 16th & Bryant the driver shut the door on a woman running for the bus. She yelled & pounded on the bus to no avail. Then while the bus was waiting at the stop light, she pulled it off of its wire. I've never seen someone do this before. She caught the bus.

Worst I'd seen was a woman in Chinatown banging her live chicken against the side of the bus so she could comply with the rule of "no live animals on Muni".

I certainly think your story is much more heroic.

I've heard that woman-killing-a-live-chicken story so often that I assume it is an urban legend. Usually the woman wrings the chicken's neck when getting on the bus.

I feel certain I could do a blog just of stories that take place on the Muni.

Our two weeks in San Francisco last summer were amazing; truly one of our favourite places on earth. Though there was one driver at the Legion of Honour who was perhaps the most unpleasant man I've ever dealt with. I wish I'd been able to pull him off his wire, permanently.

I'm pleased to hear that you had a good experience in SF. Muni is so necessary here, so it's a real shame that the service seems to get worse by the day.

Oh no, that story is definitely true. February 2008, Bus #30. There was no neck-wringing involved for as far as I could tell, though.

It must happen more often, I've seen live chickens being transported in Chinatown before.
