Stacey's close-out

Empty shelves at Stacey's
It was really creepy to wander around the completely empty book shelves at Stacey's yesterday. I felt like I was examining the scene of a road accident. All the fixtures are for sale as well: the heavy bookcases, tables, chairs, benches, display racks.

Wow, I had no idea they were closing...I was just thinking to myself today in New York: why can't I find good bookstores anymore? Maybe it's because there are none left...

This is so dreadfully sad.

Eerie... a weird Aciman-style Shadow City moment.

It was very sad. I felt like I should have brought flowers to lay before the empty shelves!

Mr. Plumley makes me feel inadequate. I guess I'm pleased to have stumbled upon a Shadow City moment, but I have no idea what that is.

Shadow Cities / André Aciman?

How brilliant of you, Tattler! But now there can be no excuse for my ignorance.
